I really want to start a segment showing my life as an emerging artist, but as I'm sitting down to write up this blurb, I'm starting to realize how difficult it is. What am I supposed to say? The weather was nice? Well - it was nice. Blue skies. Refreshing. Sun light finding its way against walls. I liked it. In retrospect, it was very relaxing.
Saturday morning, I noticed a pop of color amongst our little window-side garden. We have a lot of plants in our home and our little orchid has just started blooming. So beautiful, I couldn't help but share it with you. ♥
my creative space
A tiny renovation
I wanted to organize my work area this weekend so I did some cleaning up and set up a corner in the room for show-casing my art. Earlier this week, I had ordered some studio lights so that I can hopefully take better quality photos of my artwork (most of which is taken at night). Night is just when my creativity comes to me the best - And I have a day-job so that leaves most of my painting time for the evenings. Unfortunately, this means the quality of my art photography takes a plummet - So I had to do something about it.
Saturday, I went to Lowes and got myself a pegboard. Lately, I've been inspired by other creators using pegboards as a way of organizing their work space and thought I'd give it a try. Here's my little corner in its beginning stages:
I'm super excited about filling up this new space - So much potential to the eye!
In case you're interested, I went on Pinterest and searched up pegboards for boat-loads of inspiration.
Of course. I'm a painter. And a painter's got to paint ;). Actually, I wish I had gotten a lot more painting done this weekend - but I guess that's how I always feel afterwards. Even when I'm closing my eyes to go to sleep, I'll oftentimes see my hands still painting - the brushstrokes - and the paint - in my darkened mind. Or projected on the back of my eyelids? - Oi don't know. But yeah,
I think about painting a lot.
I worked on four separate paintings this weekend, interchanging between them as the paint was drying on each one. I also varnished one painting I created on canvas panel - and I can't wait to get it framed - And hopefully sold to someone who'll love it as much as I do. Or perhaps more? (...And there goes my mind, contemplating that idea...)
If you're interested in seeing more pictures of my paintings in progress, follow me on instagram @shihoriobata. I'm trying to get it worked out so that it's not so confusing, following the progression of one painting, but it's hard. I'm always working on several paintings at once and they drastically change between phases - Almost to the point that they look like completely different works... but they're not. They're one...
I need to figure it out. Any ideas?
Sorry if I started falling apart in my writing at the end...
Sometimes my writing turns into talking - And talking tires me out - And it's about time I call it a night anyways.
Thank you for stopping by and spending a moment of your time here. I really, really appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead of you ♥
And until next time. xo
