Zara White Platform Sneaker

I rarely post anything about fashion or style on this blog.

However, lately I am trying to open myself up to finding my own style and building up confidence in myself.

So these past few months, I’ve been expanding my wardrobe gradually and experimenting with what I like and dislike in terms of style.

One of the things I’ve been searching for is the perfect white sneaker that I love.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a white sneaker.

I’ve always just had one cheap black sneaker and wore that same shoe every day until I couldn’t wear it anymore. I preferred black because I didn’t have to worry about them looking dirty.

But now, I don’t want to wear clothes and shoes solely for convenience. I want to care more about the things I have and put on my body.

So here is where my white sneaker search has led me.

Zara White Leather Sneaker

I deliberated for 1 to 2 months before I bought these shoes.

I browsed around for shoes, both online and in-person, for a while.

I thought I might like a white sneaker from more major shoe brands like Nike, Adidas, Converse or Reebok.

However I soon noticed that I was not interested in buying a white sneaker from these brands because I’ve seen them far too many times (I’d rather buy a shoe with a cool design or color combination from them).

I also realized that I currently don’t tend to like sneakers that have a too sporty silhouette.

I was eyeing Steve Madden’s white sneakers, but in the end I decided to go with these because I found my mind kept going back to these.

Excuse the indoor pictures of these shoes because they look a little yellowish. I have a horrible lighting situation and it was a cloudy day on top of it. They are white though!

Why I Love These Sneakers

I tend to like fashion items for weird reasons so here are the reasons I chose these white sneakers.

I also don’t have a lot of experience with shoes so this blog post won’t exactly be an in-depth review but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

The first thing I love these sneakers are the platform. I was specifically looking for sneakers with a slight platform but nothing too big.

The sole height of these sneakers is 1.8 inches (4.5 cm).

I am 5 ft 1 inch tall so anything that gives me additional height is welcome. Also I have small feet (Size 5.5 – 6) so platform shoes help make the shoe stand out more.

Another feature I love about the platform is its wavy and step-like silhouette. To me, it makes the shoe really eye-catching and unique. The platform also has a clean look which I love.

There is also an angled cut at the back of the shoe which I didn’t notice when I bought it. I did feel conscious of my walk at first because I’m not used to the angled cut being there, but I got used to it.

I also love that these sneakers are low top. Medium or high top sneakers make my legs look shorter so these styles weren’t what I was looking for in white sneaker.

I also love that they look great on!

These shoes are also pretty comfortable to walk in.

I like to tuck in my laces and I can’t even feel them inside the shoe. They also don’t come out because the shoe is quite snug.

I can’t say how comfortable they are if you wear them all day because the most I wear shoes is for a couple hours. They feel really comfortable and well-padded to me though.

I am generally size 5.5-6 in shoes, but generally buy size 6’s because that is what is commonly available. I bought these shoes in a size 6 and they fit me very well. They are nice and snug on.

When I first tried them on, the heel did slip quite a bit. However after wearing them outside, I found that this changed and the heel does not slip at all.

Things I Don’t Like About This Shoe

I did say that I was searching for the perfect white shoe, but I also know that not everything is perfect in life.

I love these shoes despite these dislikes, but these are things to keep in mind for anyone else interested in these shoes.

This isn’t really a dislike but one of the reasons I didn’t jump at buying these shoes was because it was made out of leather. It made the price higher in comparison to Zara’s other sneakers and I don’t know that much about caring for leather shoes.

In the end though, I feel that I will take care of it more because it is leather and hopefully it will keep the shoes looking cleaner for longer.

The leather has already started to crease a bit even from wearing it a few times so that is something to keep in mind. To me, it’s not that noticeable so it’s fine but I know this can annoy some people.

Another dislike is that these shoes are probably seasonal as most things on Zara’s site. So it may not be available if there is ever a time when I want to rebuy this shoe.

And although these shoes feel snug, the ankles do slip a bit for me. This is probably just the case because I am in-between sizes.

Also, I was not used to the angled cut at the back of the sole and I felt more conscious trying to walk smoothly with it. However it is something that I eventually got used to.

Overall, I love these white sneakers because I love the simplicity of the design, yet it has unique points that make it different to other shoes I’ve seen.

It’s a sneaker but for some reason I find it clean and classy.
