If you just moved into a new dorm or apartment, and it’s looking dull, drab, and empty – Here are some apartment decorating ideas to try out to transform your new space to feel more like home.
15 Cozy Apartment Decorating Ideas
The key to creating a cozy space out of even the most stark, white, emptiest rooms is the addition of tiny pieces that reflect you. In this photo, you can see the line of photos, providing a little bit of inspiration and reminder of the things you value most in life.
I also love the addition of stems to add a natural tone and sense of free-form to the space – so that everything is not rigid. Adding florals and plants, whether real or silk, can help to add that cozy, natural feel to any space.
Additionally, the low shelf system helps to keep all the books and magazines organized and helps to showcase all the artsy materials, such as the ceramics and paintbrushes.
In this photo, I love the mixture of different materials in a single space – From the sheer curtains, wicker chair, to the acrylic desk. It’s different, but it gives the room its own unique, cozy feel to it.
An easy way to bring a cozy feel to a room is to bring in more natural textures – Such as the rich green bouquet with hints of pink and white, the woven basket, rustic white pieces of ceramics, and the jute rug.
If you tend to leave a lot of small things lying around, try getting a tray to keep all these little things in one organized space. It will also help you from losing these items, such as keys, glasses, chapstick, etc.
I know most of us aren’t going to have giant windows in our apartments – but I still like this space because of the minimalist, very simple choices for furnishing: From the use of pallets for the bed to the simple desk. It’s humble and down-to-earth – and feels very homey.
Decorate your room with fairy lights for a more fairy tale look.
This space just makes me feel so happy – it’s definitely a space that makes you want to roll out of bed in the morning to start off a new day.
This little bedroom is a quirky mixture of cozy and fun: I love the mixture of patterns: From the bright yellow through to the plaid comforter, and the mix-match of rugs on the floor.
Keeping everything color-coordinated is a great way to bring together a more cohesive space: I love neutral color palettes. Browns, blacks, and whites are a simple way to keep your space looking aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
I love the hanging shelf organizer in the corner and round mirrors – Round or oval mirrors break up any square, inorganic geometry in the room to bring a more homey feel to a space effortlessly.
Fill your space with plants to bring a more vibrant, earthy feel to your apartment space. And there are so many beautiful plants that flourish in even low light conditions – such as Peace Lilies, Golden Pothos, Succulents, and Snake Plants.
If you have a small bedroom, you can try this idea of aligning your desk next to your bed. It creates a nook or divided space; Yet provides a more lengthy tabletop space compared to a nightstand to work next to.
Decorate your space with a quote, piece of artwork, or photograph that inspires you everyday to be the person you want to be. Surround your space with little things that realign you towards a goal, mind frame, or feeling.
I love the idea of creating a designated area to get ready to go out, using a bench, cubby, clothing rack, and mirror.
I love this idea of creating a little bookshelf next to one’s bed for all you booklovers out there.
