Hi everybody!
I’m back with another blog post!
This one is a bit different from what I usually post – but I figured it would be a fun little side quest to try out…
So let’s eat some Japanese snacks!
I was reached out to by ICHIGO Inc (the company who made TokyoTreat) and was asked if I wanted to try out some Japanese snacks. I said why… of course, yes!
This review is all my honest thoughts about the box however!
I hope you enjoy this little review and that it may be helpful to you if you are wondering about getting this subscription service or not.
Now let’s get started!

What is TokyoTreat?
TokyoTreat is a monthly subscription box service for Japanese snacks.
Each box contains up to 20 exclusive, limited edition, and seasonal flavored Japanese snacks that are only available in Japan for a limited time.
Halloween is coming up in about a month for me so I was sent a Halloween-themed box.
I love the cute design of it!
I think Kuro-chan (our black cat) likes it too!
He sat right next to it as soon as it arrived and I set it on the table haha!
What Was Inside It?
Let’s take a peek at what was inside of the TokyoTreat box!
Of course, the contents of the box will change with each month – But here is what was inside the box I received.
There are a bunch of snacks in the box, but there is also a postcard and a booklet inside!
The booklet is so helpful!
All of the snacks are from Japan – and thus, the packaging of each snack is written primarily in Japanese.
So having this booklet that explains each snack in English helps so much!
It also gives a few additional information, such as potential allergens in each snack and whether the snack is suitable for vegetarians or not.
Now onto the food contents!
My favorite… is the ramen.
I absolutely love that it had a pack of ramen in it!
And omg… it was so good. The only time I’ve eaten curry ramen was the one in the cup so I was excited to try this one.
I actually found I liked this curry ramen a lot more!
I also appreciated that the noodles were not fried.
If they ever make a monthly subscription box for specialty instant noodles in Japan – I’d be all over that! lol
And of course, our cat is supervising in the background.
My next favorite snacks were the spicy ones.
They included 2 spicy snacks in this box – And I really liked both of them 🙂
They weren’t too spicy – just a nice relaxing kick to each bite. However – if you don’t like spicy, these might not be for you.
This one was spicy plus mayonnaise flavored… and it spoke to my soul (I love mayo)
This snack (choco pie) was so good, I already ate most of it before I took the picture (lol sorry!)
I was surprised there was a pastry in the box!
This is a caramel danish – and it was very soft! A nice pairing with my Dunkin drink!
I really enjoyed these mini Hi-chew candies. They are so small & cute, but flavorful!
I really like the flavors of Japanese candy – They taste different from the fruit flavors in the States imo.
Japanese Kit Kat flavors are so wild!
The one in this box were Apple Pie flavored.
To me, it tastes like Pumpkin spice, but with apples.
I will say I’m not a huge fan of the spice profile (I don’t like Pumpkin Spice that much) so I wasn’t crazy about the flavor.
I recommend sticking the KitKat and anything else with a chocolate exterior into the fridge before opening.
Mine did get a little melty during the delivery process – as it’s still quite warm outside. Otherwise, your fingers and snacks might get a bit messy!
I also loved these mini pies from Lotte!
They are so flaky and the filling is a delicious custard. I loved eating them refrigerated because the custard becomes harder and I liked the texture difference!
The ones below were pizza-flavored puff snacks.
I really enjoyed them because I love puff-style snacks. The pizza flavor was more muted than the puff snacks I find in the U.S though.
There were other snacks in the box – but these were the ones I thought were most noteworthy.
And some I ate so quickly I didn’t have time to take a pic of it haha
My Thoughts
Overall, I really enjoyed the snack box from TokyoTreat!
It’s got quite a fun variety to its contents and I love that they provide a little booklet to help me learn about the different snacks.
I am used to Japanese snacks and flavors since I’ve eaten Japanese snacks growing up – but the snacks included were unique enough that I had a fun experience trying out each snack!
Plus, since I live in the U.S. – I don’t have access to these limited editions here.
And I loved the ramen. My mind wanders back to that ramen ever since I ate it haha
Also – I shared the snacks with my mom (She was born in Japan, but lives in the U.S. now). She really enjoyed them too!
She loved reading the packaging of each snack and seeing the different prefectures each snack was from.
She said it was very natsukashii (nostalgic) for her.
She lives in a rural part of the U.S. – so there isn’t as much access to Japanese food here. The snack box was an exciting way for her to experience Japanese flavors again 🙂
